Generally I look forward to writing the Ten Things of Thankful column. Many weeks, my thankful list varies only slightly. Since this is the last thankful list of the year, I decided to ask Lindsey what she was thankful for–just to see what she’d come up with. And it’s quite a list.
Today Lindsey is thankful:
1) for the break “my provider” (the state-paid woman who spends one-on-one time with my daughter) and I get from one another. Now and then, we need some time apart now. I’ve had a lot more time to spend with my husband.
2) for the time I got to spend with my family and loved ones at Christmas. It’s not about the presents. Even though I liked the presents too, it’s about spending time with family. Mine and Nick’s.
3) for my two cats: Sally and Cuddles. Since I can’t have kids, they’re like children to me. I like to spoil them.
4) for Ann Jeannette, my sponsor child from the Philippines. I’m glad I can help her buy school supplies and that she sends me pictures. Here is the most recent one:
5) that the house fire that happened in our neighborhood wasn’t our place. I’ve been worried about fires ever since this happened, but I’m trying not to be.
6) that my disability isn’t worse than it is. Some people have a lot harder time than I do. Everyday I’m grateful my life isn’t so bad.
7) for my wonderful husband who gives me kisses and hugs and makes me feel better by holding me and comforting me.
8) that when my husband and I disagree or fight, we can’t always remember what the argument was about.
9) that my husband passed the driver’s test and can drive a car. I love a man with wheels.
10) that I’ve been really good on my diet and have lost almost all the weight the doctor told me to lose. Diets are hard. I can’t wait for it to be over.
11) for my new hot pink fingernail polish.
12) that my legs are working better again. I still use my cane, but I don’t need it as much. And best of all, I’m walking faster. Sometimes Nick can’t keep up with me.
