Ten Things Of Thankful – November 24, 2013

This week I’m thankful for:

1) old friends. I met up with two high school gal pals yesterday. I’ve not seen one in over thirty years. For me, this visit was a true gift. Both are beautiful women and its a shame that we haven’t been able to connect more often since graduating high school. My only wish? That we could’ve spent more than just one afternoon together. Yet I’m grateful for the time we had.

2) my nephew who saved my blog, Out One Ear, from accidental deletion. After approximately twelve down hours, the blog is back up and running. Yay! I didn’t realize how much I enjoyed connecting with all of you until the blog temporarily vanished.

3) Lindsey’s growing Christmas list. She and Nick are making it easy to shop for them this year (and I hate to shop. Big time.). Almost every day she calls with something new that must be added to the list she gave me back in September. I’m tickled she still secretly believes in Santa.

Woman in Hot Tub 4) our hot tub. I’m not even a hot tub fan, but the last few mornings, frost has covered the ground. Freezing temperatures have stayed in the Willamette Valley much of the week. I can’t seem to get warm. Jumping in our hot tub a couple times a day is helping this old body cope with sudden freezing temps.

5) my sister who is hosting Thanksgiving. Because of Beth, I didn’t have to spend any time cleaning my house this weekend. (Thank you Beth!)

6) not hearing the word, “No!” You see, my brother-in-law and I have applied to be contestants on The Amazing Race. We haven’t heard any news as of yet so I’m considering that to be good, and that we still have a chance. I’m grateful for that!

7) making it to the gym every day this week. I even went to spinning class twice. I hate spinning class. But I spun like a mad woman anyway. (Probably because I was mad to find myself in a  spinning class???)

8) Lindsey and Nick’s company Tuesday evening at dinner. I made Taco Soup and they ate as if they were starving. I assure you, they are not starving, but their eating enjoyment brings me a lot of pleasure. And they are so appreciative too.

9) my mother and her husband’s safe arrival to their second home in Arizona.

Tara and Michael

10) my son’s new job. He really wanted this position because it brings him eight hours closer to his home in Shertz, Texas. My hope is that he and his wife, Tara, will be able to see each other more often now. It certainly sucks to be married and live far apart. Incredibly, Michael and Tara make a long-distance relationship work.

And thanks to all our Ten Things Of Thankful hosts for #25! I’m happy to participate when I can. Congrats on this milestone.

Ten Things of Thankful

I share many passions in this world: antiquing, gardening, hiking, traveling, taking amateur photographs, writing, sitting on a white, sandy beach with my husband and sipping a frozen margarita—just to name a few. If you enjoy any of these things too, let's connect! The world is better with friends.
